Card 2 in a set of 4. . . .

Yesterday I posted the first in this series of 4 cards I made a couple of weeks ago.  Today, I am posting my personal favorite in this set.   What I really liked was using a cut out image in the background in a "very" non-traditional method!  I think this has become one of my fav things to do now with my Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge!
Anyhow. . .here's the sketch:

And here's my take:

Card 1 in a set of 4!

Ever get stumped. . . as I often do. . . on what to do for cards?  I found this great set of papers I bought last JANUARY, I bought it at the time not only 'cause I really liked it, but it was "different" - so non-traditional winter papers!  Anyways, I used the Verve Challenges for the Month of November to create four cards with all the same papers and stamp set!   This was my personal challenge. . . sometimes I get distracted by all the "papers" I have hoarded away and have a hard time sitting down and picking what to do. . . anyways here's the original sketch:

what I came up with:

B and T Papers:  January Brrrr (discontinued)
CTMH Cardstock: Juniper, Black & Colonial White
Stamps:  CTMH Timber (greeting), Stampalicious (image)
Accessories:  CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, CTMH Gems, CTMH Black and White Dot Ribbon and Copic Markers

. . . . .TFL!

Christmas Cards. . .

Okay, I have to say I'm finding I not only have a stash of Christmas Papers I've completely forgotten about. . . but some of my cards I'm completely forgetting about as well.  However, I've found a stash of cards and thought I'd share them with you!

This first card features a stamp from Stampin' Bella and I've co-ordinated it by coloring with Copic markers.

This second card is featuring some wonderful papers which were released by Bo-Bunny last year!  LOVE THEM!!!  Again the stamp is one from Stamping Bella and colored with Copic markers to co-ordinate with the papers!

These cards are very simple layouts. . . and oh so easy to put together!

Lost my Mojo. . . .

Okay, I'm a little behind in posting my MOJO layouts. . . figured I'd better get some more posted ;) This was the last week for the month of November, and over at MOJO they like to mix things up and focus on non-traitional sized cards, so the option was for a round or square card.

Since the majority of my cards are square, I figured I'd try making a round Card!  Here's my take on the layout:

Can I say I LOVE my CTMH Art Philosophy Cricut Cartridge!!!  Yipeee. . . it made this card so simple!  The actual shape is the scalloped circle at 5 3/4", the green scalloped circle is 5 1/2", the red circle is 5 1/4" and the B&T papers were two circles cut at 5", the circles were then stacked on my cutter and I cut 1/4 of the circle.   Added some ribbon, cut the snowflake again from my Cricut Cartridge, the image is stamped on a tag from the Cartridge and framed with the same image.

B and T papers:  CTMH (Christmas papers from last year - discontinued)
Cardstock:  CTMH New Englad Ivy, Cranberry, & Colonial White
Stamps:  Stampalicious
Accessories:  CTMH Glitter, CTMH Button, CTMH Cricut Art Phiolosophy Cartridge, Copic Markers, Staz-On Black Ink

TFL. . . now for this weeks challenge. . .sketch is out please feel free to check it out MOJO 218

"Caught-Up" in the Festivities and Cards!

Ok. . . I realize I have been posting a whole lotta cards on the blog - at least between Amber and I we've put quiet a few in the past couple of weeks and the "focus" is supposed to be on scrapbooking and cardmaking. . . . oops we've kinda forgot about the scrapbooking portion on the blog!  My BADDDDD!  It's so much fun makin' all those Christmas Cards and the Challenges. . .OMG they go on forever - if you try to do them all.  Can you say stimulation overload!

So on Wednesday, I sat down and got out some true 12X12 Cardstock to work on some layouts for a function I'm doing this weekend with our local Stampede Royalty.  Who woulda thought in the middle of the Cariboo we'd have ROYALTY - but we do!  I was asked by one of the Board of Directors from the Williams Lake Stampede Association to work with this past years Queen and princess(es) to help them capture some of the highlights from the 2011 reign.  I was supplied a wide variety of pictures from MANY of the events they attended this year, and again was on stimulation overload and thought "if I create it. . . they will follow" . . .

Here's the final product and the black cardstock frames the girls pictures, which can easily slide in amongst the embelishments!

B and T Paper:  CTMH Roxie Paper (X7104B)
Cardstock:  all CTMH Black, Tulip, & Desert Sand
Ink:  CTMH Black & Desert Sand
Stamps are all CTMH:  Blue Ribbon Set (C1464), Typeset Workshop Set (Kit G1024), Insant Memories (C1466), and Love Life (D1482)
Accessories:  CTMH Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge, Gems, 3D Dots

TFL!

I know sound courney, but essentially that is what I anticipate them doing and the end result will be their own pictures as they choose....  a simple way of coming to a resolution to my own problem!

Graphicat's Snowman Stamp Set

Apparently. .  . both Amber and I are featuring some of Graphicat's stamps/sketches from this weekends personal projects!  I have utilzed one of Cheri's stamp sets:

My creative-sarcastic side just about screamed out loud when I saw this set.   LOVE IT!!!  Oh. . . the cards I'll be making with these cute little sayings!  hehehe!

I found a simple sketch from Split Coast Stampers (sketch challenge 359):

I came up with this design (rotated the sketch 180degrees) :

Using CTMH Believe  paper pack I matched up my snowman by coloring it in with Copic Markers and added some bling by using CTMH Art Philosophy Cartridge to make the snowflakes in CTMH Daisy White and again in CTMH Sky Blue, using my Xyron sticker maker I added adhesive to the snowflakes and finished them off with some CTMH Prism Glitter and a blue gem.  Added some swirls of red and green gems by My Minds Eye throughut the card and finished it off by announcing the title with a CTMH Pin Clip

Christmas is in the air . . . . continued!

Graphicat's Santa Layout

Hi Everyone, so here is my (Amber) first post!  Let's hope I can do this right!  Anyways, my dear friend Penny was here Thursday night finishing up the cards for the Women's Contact Society's card night.  So much FUN!!!  I was so inspired to do something out of my comfort zone...... layers, layers and more layers.  I went over to another great friends blog at Graphicat  to find some inspiration with her November Sketch:

This is what I came up with!

So I started with the CTMH Believe paper pack using the CTMH Sweet Leaf and Topiary cardstock.  I stamped Santa, lights and stars from the CTMH Share the Magic (retired) stamp set and 'Happy Holidays' from the CTMH A Timber stamp set.  I colored Santa with my Copic Markers and gave him some 'bling' with CTMH's Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel.  I then made his beard appear fuzzy with CTMH's Fun Flock.  Finish off with some CTMH Cranberry ribbon, some CTMH Sparkles and a couple of other accents and here you go.

Next project....easel card, wish me luck!

Inspirational Santa. . . .

I have to admit, this latest card was an inspiration from a girlfriend whom I consider a card making guru.  Many have had the pleasure of seeing her work and in case you haven't you might want to skip on over to her blog to see the beautiful work she does - which inspires me to "think outside of the card (aka box)".

Normally, my cards are very two dementianalized and "simple".  Which I've been advised "simple cards" do not have layers or bling!  So I've re-thought this whole process and figure I'm getting there. . . as far as detailing up my cards but still have a whole lot to learn.

Here's a side profile of Santa in layers and some of the details/bling close up.

BandT Paper: Bo Bunny 6"x6" Snowfall Collection & 12"X12"
Cardstock: all CTMH Juniper, Chocolate and Vanilla
Ink:  all CTMH Juniper and Chocolate
Accessories:  Nestabilities, CTMH Crystal Gems, My Minds Eye Pearls, CTMH Pin Clips

Mojo 215 Layouts

Okay, it's that time of the week for the newest and greatest Mojo . . .  And Amber definately has her MOJO on and has completed the card and has it ready for posting!  Here's this weeks layout for Mojo214:

And here's Amber's take on the layout:

Stamps sets used: CTMH Jingle Borders and Heartfelt Christmas
Card Stock:  CTMH Sky and Sweet Leaf
B and T Paper: CTMH Believe Paper

Techinique: Snowflake stamped in Sky and stamped with glue pen and sprinkled in CTMH Prisma Glitter

Now it's my turn to get my Mojo on and see what I can come up with for this weeks Mojo Layout. . . .

I rotated the layout and put it onto a 6"x6" card.  Using papers I picked up this afternoon at one of my "frequent" visited paper suppliers.  These weren't the original papers I wanted to use for this layout, however, the B and T papers are Printery Collections 6x6 paper stack.  Co-ordinating Cardstock is CTMH Cocoa, Vanilla and Juniper
The cute little flower is made from a section of the B and T papers pack and the fleures are made from CTMH Juniper cardstock with the use of CTMH Art Philosophy Collection.  I also used the CTMH Art Philosophy Collection for the sentiment frame and sentiment is from CTMH Card Chatter - Sympathy.   The pearls are e. and pearl swirls from Lost & Found.  Ink used is CTMH Cocoa.  TGL!

Christmas Pop-Up Gift Card Holder

Here's one of my great finds which I'm sharing with my fellow crafty peeps! We all have those hard to buy for family members/friends and I found this really cute gift card holder and thought I'd share my take on it with you!

Okay, I struggle with primary colors!  I rely heavily on my "browns" when I create cards and to be honest I purchased the CTMH Believe papers as a "challenge" for my personal growth!   I have this great CTMH Share the Magic stamp set.  I've never used it - again out of my comfort range!  Whimsikle, fun stamp set - and I'm such a traditional old fashioned kinda gal!   Between the stamp set and the Believe paper pack I was overwhelmed!   Completely had a designers block!  Could not see past the "red" - I'm also not a red kinda girl.  Tones of red - yes, plain red - no!  I started on Friday afternoon, put it down made a whole other card, tried again on Saturday and finished finally late Sunday night.

Here's the final product:

I actually had to break this card down into segments.   Starting with the Santa on Saturday morning - Using Copic Markers I made up many of these Santa's.  On the "highlights" I added CTMH Glitz Sparkle Gel, just to accentuate it that much more.

Here's the great part about this card and it's functionality!  When it opens up. . . your gift card magically lifts up and it's nicely displayed  in a little sleeve!  There's no way your happy recipient will miss the presention of your gift card!  :)

Card Supplies:
  • CTMH Believe Paper Pack (CTMH X7145B)
  • CTMH Share the Magic Acrylic Stamp Set (Discontinued)
  • CTMH Clear Sparkles (CTMH Z1104)
  • CTMH Glitz Stardust Gel (CTMH 1313)
  • Copic Markers
  • Score-Pal
  • Ticket Corner-Rounder Punch
  • CTMH 1 1/4" Circle Punch (CTMH Z1311)
  • Euro Personal Trimmer (CTMH Z338)
  • Tombo Mono Adhesive (CTMH 1514)
  • 3D Foam Tape (CTMH 1151)
Got the supplies. . . and don't know how to put it all together?  Click on this tutorial and it'll explain how to "put it all together".  Oh ya, I changed my card deminsions to a 6"x6" and the tutorial is for a 51/2" x 4 1/4".  Some slight modifications will be required if you change the size of your card - but yes it can be done!

Have any questions or want to recreate this card please feel free to contact me, Penny Stavast or Amber Nustad!

Santa's "Watching You"

What a great weekend!  I actually got some R&R, house work and paper work done!  You can imagine what kind of paperwork I am talking about. . . and not the work kind either!   Yes I sat down and was able to get a "few things" done in my crafting corner.   I made this vintage style Christmas Card using a techinique I saw on Split Coast Stampers, for a telescopic card and an older layout for a challenge I saw a while ago on SCS as well.  This is a great techinique for using all of those nesting shapes in a whole other way. . .

As you can see by the side profile I took my santa image and broke it up into 3 layers using nesting ovals and 3D foam dots.  It's a great techinque for adding more depth to your cards.

B and T Paper:  My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas 6x6
Cardstock: CTMH Vineyard Berry, Chocolate and Vanilla
Ink:  CTMH Vineyard Berry and Jim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress Ink
Stamps:  Santa by Hampton Art and CTMH Holiday Cheer set
Accessories:  Nestabilities; e. Pearls and Gems, Maya Road Snowflakes, CTMH Chocolate Ribbon and 3D Foam Dots

Look who's coming to play. . . .

I'm happy to announce Amber Nustad, another CTMH consultant is joining me on Scrappy-Gals Blog!  You'll see some of her creations with a focus on CTMH products, but like me she likes to play in the big sand box and uses a bit of everything!

Here's one of her cards just to start it all off:
Amber used CTMH Believe paper pack with CTMH Topiary and Holiday Red card stock.  Stamp sets are from CTMH I Believe Acrylic Stamps in CTMH Topiary ink.  The Snowflake is stamped using CTMH White Embossing Powder with CTMH Prisma Glitter mixed in to give it a "glittery" feel!

Other accessories include CTMH Corner Rounder punch and a Snowflake Punch.

Mojo214 - Let it Snow!

Week one of the month is the kick off to Mojo Monday's contest!  Yiiippppeee!  I always love a challenge and NO I'm not competitive at all!  So here's the dete's:

For every 50 entries, up to a max of SEVEN winners!!! Winners will receive the Verve Stamps set of their choice!  Who couldn't handle a free stamp set and Verve Stamps are so versatile!   For full details check out the Mojo Monday Blog.

So here's the "sketch" for the challenge:

and here's my rendition:

Cardstock is CTMH Grey Flannel, Chocolate, Twilight and White
B&T papers are all from the CTMH Winter Wonderland Paper Pack
Ink is CTMH Chocolate
Stamps are CTMH Snowflakes and Amuse Holiday Greeting Set 1
Accessories include Nestabilities, CTMH Opaque Mocha Gems and Self Adhesive Snowflake Flock.  The Ribbon is a roll which I picked up from Michaels a couple of years go, and with all it's glitter and shine it went surprising well with CTMH color combos!

Season's Change - Friendship stays the same!

Here's a fun card I made up to celebrate my favorite time of the year - FALL!  I'm trying to challenge myself to use more of my CTMH paper product but as my blog states I am a paper horder and have all sorts of paper and of coarse I LOVE it all!

This time, the paper is from CTMH Dreamin' paper pack.    This paper pack truely inspires the colors of all with its combination of CTMH Goldrush,  Chocolate, Pacifica and Bamboo colors.

The stamp sets I featured here is CTMH So Grateful Acrylic Stamp set.  I used the pumpkin and second stage stamped the image with a little "rock and roll" around the edges to give it a dementional appearance of being a fat round pumpkin in CTMH Goldrush ink.  Then followed with the second stamp set of phrases in CTMH Chocolate ink.   Added the swirls and 3D popped the leaves in CTMH Olive ink.

Add some gems and a little bit more stamping and you have a great card for a great friend! :)

Christmas is in the Air - Part 2

Okay. . . at the end of October I posted one of the Six Cards we are going to be making at the Contact Women's Society's Card Making Night.  Here is card two which Amber Nustad (my trusty sidekick - or maybe I'm hers, who knows!) put together!  Again, this is featuring the CTMH Winter Wonderland Paper Pack.  I love all of the blues and brown's in this kit!

Images are cut using the CTMH Cricut Art Philosphy Cartridge and stamped with the co-ordinating stamp image from CTMH Holiday Cheer and CTMH Snowflake sets. Amber has added some bling to her card by stamping the greeting in CTMH Twilight Blue stamp pad and followed up by using a versa-mark pad and embossing with CTMH Clear Detail Embossing Powder and CTMH Prisma Glitter added to over the image.  The end result is a shimmer to the card and some added depth to the image.

Add some gems - no girl could do without and vola!  You have one more card completed!

Thanks Amber!

Telescopic Christmas Card

I saw this little Christmas Card on Splitcoast Stampers and thought it was a very unique technique so I had to try it out. It's very simple, but you can bling it up and make it so much more "fancy" than a traditional folding card and it's one more way to use all of those nesting shapes you have laying around! :)

I made my card with a 5.5" Scalloped Circle as the base.  The top circle, which is stamped with CTMH Melody of Christmas stamp, lifted with 3D adhesive, on top of a Snowflake, rotates up to reveal the second circle.  I chose to put my greeting for the card on here.  This again is CTMH I Believe Stamp set.

Rotate the card one more time to reveal the last circle, which I stamped again with CTMH I Believe  stamp set for the final image.  I left enough room in the last circle for writing a personal greeting/sentiment.

Each of the circles are held together with a CTMH metalic brad.  All Cardstock is CTMH (Cocoa, Brown Bag, Garden Green & Vineyard Berry).  Background & Textured papers are My Minds Eye 6x6 Pad Lost and Found.  Images were stamped in CTMH Garden Green, Garnet and/Vineyard Berry Ink.

Mojo Monday Layout 213

Since it's the last week of the month, Mojo Monday likes to mix things up and focus on non-traditional sized cards, so they've given everyone a Round or Square option.

I chose to do the square option with a "twist". Here's my card:

So here's the "twist" this card is technically a 6"x6" square card. . . well sort of, anyways.  I made it an easle card which in itself is a fun take on the traditional flat card as you can see by this picture:

It sorta pops up in all different kind of ways.  It's a very cool way to do a "square" card layout!  for instructions please e-mail me and I'd be happy to forward them on or you can check out the Score-Pal web site projects for this or plenty more ideas for different card layouts.

Inside View

Close-Up of Sentiment

Papers:  B & T My Minds Eye 6"x6" Pad, CTMH Chocolate, Honey and Juniper Cardstock
Stamps:  CTMH Acrylic Friends stamp set
Accessories:  CTMH Chocolate Ribbon Collection; CTMH Chocolate Brad; Basic Grey mini pearl gems; e. gems in blue & brown; & paper flowers

Thanks for playing along with me and I look forward to next weeks Mojo - a whole new month and a whole new competition begins on week 1!!! :)
